Cradle Care Parents Needed
The Barker Adoption Foundation is seeking Cradle Care Parents (individuals or couples) in DC, MD and VA to provide short-term, full-time, in-home care to newborn babies and young children for whom an adoption plan is being considered. Families must have at least one stay-at-home parent, who is able to take placement of children with little notice and provide full-time care for an average of 10 – 30 days – until the child is placed with an adoptive family, or returns to their birth family. Families must have comfort level with infant care, and flexibility to facilitate various appointments (medical and family visits etc.) throughout the placement period. Reliable transportation and ability to successfully complete a home study process is required. This is a volunteer position, with a small daily per diem offered to cover the expenses of childcare throughout each placement. Foster Care Respite Parents Needed
The Barker Adoption Foundation is seeking respite parents (individuals or couples) in DC, MD and VA to provide short-term, respite care to older children being adopted from foster care through our Project Wait No Longer program. Families must have the flexibility to provide respite care in the home for at least 1-7 days, when requested by the agency. Families with foster care or adoption experience are preferred, but not required. Reliable transportation and ability to successfully complete a home study process is required. This is a volunteer position, with a small daily per diem offered to cover the expenses of childcare throughout each placement.
